Breathing system research assembly

Description: This assembly, incorporating a single use 22/22 mm tubing connector, a short length of non-medical wide bore rubber tubing, an adaptor from a BOC Wright's Meter and a laboratory gate clamp was made for research purposes. Would serve as a variable apparatus resistance. Does anyone know what it was used for?
