Description: Small electrical hot water steriliser. No identifying marks. Power socket at back. Contains small inner tray and a pair of lifting handles. Heat is provided to boil water in the device by means of a 1 kilowatt electric element bonded to the base of the container.

In use, the container would be filled with water to a level sufficient to assure the immersion of the item to be 'sterilised' and brought to the boil. The item would be immersed in boiling water for 5 minutes before removal.It would need to be allowed to cool before,being used. Although the process would kill vegetative bacteria, it was not necessarily effective against bacterial spores. The method has now been superceded by the use of superheated steam applied using autoclaves.
