Traction board

Description: Traction applied to the lower limb confined in a Thomas Splint using 'Elastoplast' (Smith and Nephew) applied down the length of the inner side of the limb, along the length of the board and back up the outer side of the limb. The plaster kept in place with crepe bandage. traction would then be applied to the board using sash cord passed through the two holes, then over a pulley to weights. There is an interesting feint impression of a stamp with the word CERRIG-Y-DRUIDION, being a variant of the modern placename Cerrigydrudion, the home town of the donor. .
